Swimming Update

D has been taking swim lessons with Swim Kids since last July.  She had a big fear of water over her head and going under.  She quickly passed the first 3 levels and was able to go under willingly and with a smile.  She could float with assistance and enjoyed being in the water.  Level 4 has been a huge challenge!!  She met a few skills (bobbing and front floats) in the first few months but was getting frustrated because she hadn't earned a skill sticker in a long time.  This week she had a camp where she went every morning for 30 minutes.  It made an amazing difference!  Now she can kick on her tummy without being held (skill sticker), tread water for 10 seconds alone (skill sticker), and push off the wall onto her back to float for 10 seconds (skill sticker).  She is working on jumping into water she can't stand in and swimming back to the wall.  She loves to do this with a noodle on or holding a hand.  In fact she was disappointed she didn't have a chance to try by herself yesterday.  For B and I the best part is she smiles and LOVES the water now.  She's also more independent and knows what to do if she gets into trouble!

All summer S has been saying "S, swim!?!?" every time she go to the pool for D's lessons.  Last week we were able to start him in lessons with a parent.  He is fearless around the water and loves it. He'll kick, float, blow bubbles, and go under water.  The funniest is when he comes up and growls because his face is wet.  Yesterday B was off so he swam with him.
