She Did It!

If you know our family, you'll know D has had some difficulty with her swimming lessons.  She started as a baby and loved it but starting at around 20 months decided she didn't like deep water.  This progressed and progressed until she would cry when we tried to get her into the water.  So in June 2013 we enrolled her at SwimKids.  She quickly learned to go under, float, blow bubbles, and enjoy the water again.  In August 2013 she started Level 4, where she was expected to learn to swim on her own.  We've been stalled in that level for 15 months.  She made progress, learned to do a basic swim without being held, and got over her fear of deeper water.  But she just couldn't pass the last 3 skills - back kick for 5 yards, roll from front to back to front, and fall in swim around the coach and back to the wall.  Last week she passed the back kick.  And yesterday she did it ... SHE PASSED LEVEL 4!!!!




I can't say enough wonderful things about the coaches and staff at Swim Kids!  They went out of their way to make D feel good about her progress, especially as so many kids came and graduated from her class.  They never gave up on her and she never gave up on herself!!

Great Country Farm

Today to celebrate Spring Break we ventured to Great Country Farm.  We went last year at Spring Break also.  The kids had so much fun, when I asked what they wanted to do this year the first thing they said was "Great Country Farm!"  So we packed up the van with kids and grandparents and off we went. Just like last year, the kids had a blast playing on the slides and bouncy pillow.  Like last year I went down a few slides too.  Unlike last year I paid attention to the "12 and under" sign and stayed off of the bouncy pillow!  The kids also fed some goats, bounced on pigs, climbed on a bunch of wooden obstacles, and tried out the rope swing. And of course, no trip is complete without a little gem hunting! Last, but not least the kids rode the cow train.  S was till upset we didn't do this last year.  He definitely enjoyed the ride more than D!

Happy Easter

I hope you and your family had a wonderful, happy Easter!  Ours sure did!!!!   We started the fun on Saturday evening by decorating Easter eggs.  We managed to spill 0 cups of egg dye and I only cracked 3 eggs while boiling them.  As you can see, egg dying is a serious and thought provoking experience in our house. The Easter Bunny left baskets on the table and hid eggs downstairs for the kids on Easter morning.  The baskets had an art book, a book to read, Mad Libs, Tsum Tsums, one small toy, and some chocolate.  We spent the afternoon with family having another egg hunt and dinner.  It was a great way to spend a warm, Easter Sunday!

Here Come the Police!

Like most little boys, S is obsessed with anything that moves, makes noise, and has buttons.  I guess that's why one of his favorite toys right now is a remote control police car he got from my parents.  He drives around, where he wants it to go.  Although he does point the control backwards most of the time so when he pushes the reverse arrow it actually goes forward.  When it drives it makes siren noises.  Plus it has buttons on the car and the remote to push.  What more could a three year old boy want from a toy?!?!?
