Spring Break Day 2

We lucked into the big activity of the day for Tuesday!  D wanted desperately to go to the library so we decided Tuesday would be a good day.  I took a quick look at the local library's schedule and was pleasantly surprised to see it was "Elephant and Piggie Day!"  Since getting the book "We Are in A Book" (by Mo Willems) hese are 2 of the kids' favorite book characters at the moment.  Of course they both were very excited (so was I).

It started with a reading of the book "Happy Pig Day."  The audience was invited to say "Oinky, Oink, Oink" along with Piggie in the book!

After the story there were a variety of crafts to do - a pigeon hat, elephant and piggie paper bag puppets, an elephant clock, and a paper puzzle.  Both kids enjoyed cutting and pasting the crafts.

Of course we also had to check out our own books.  I love that D chose books she could read from the "Easy Reader" section.  She was so excited to find a Rainbow Fairies AND a Fancy Nancy book she could read herself.  It's amazing to see her reading on her own.  S found a Curious George book and an Angry Birds Star Wars book he insisted on having.

After the library it was off to have lunch with Grandma, a quick trip to Target, then home to continue the book fun.  D and I put on Piggie and Elephant puppet shows throughout the day using our puppets to read the 2 books we have with the characters.

Another great day of Spring Break!
