Our (Dreary, Rainy) Day

Ever wonder what a summer day looks like with 2 kids who are both tired of being at home?  2 kids stuck inside most of the day because of the rainy, misty weather?  Here's our day ...
6:20 - Just I'm up!  A chance to have some coffee!

7:20 - S is up and having some bowling practice.

8:20 - Both kids are up, dressed, fed, and playing (peacefully) a ring toss game.

9:20 - Must get out of the house!  So off we go to Target.

10:20 - Back from a fairly peaceful trip to Target with Starbucks of course!

11:20 - Kids are playing trains together while I do a load of laundry (new clothes from the Target trip).

12:20 - Quiet time for everyone.

1:20 - A bit of tv on a misty afternoon.

2:20 - Mail's here!

3:20 - The misty, raininess has stopped for a bit so time to go outside.

4:20 - Monopoly Jr.  I won once and S won once.  Poor D had the worst luck with games this afternoon!

5:20 - Getting ready for dinner - Santa Fe Turkey breasts.  Everyone enjoyed and even liked dinner!!!

6:20 - Family game time.  I found a couple of new games downstairs to play.  They were fun and caused lots of laughter.

7:20 - Bedtime routines!  D is playing with my iPad as we read to S.

8:20 - Time to relax after the kids are tucked in!

Great Country Farm

Today to celebrate Spring Break we ventured to Great Country Farm.  We went last year at Spring Break also.  The kids had so much fun, when I asked what they wanted to do this year the first thing they said was "Great Country Farm!"  So we packed up the van with kids and grandparents and off we went. Just like last year, the kids had a blast playing on the slides and bouncy pillow.  Like last year I went down a few slides too.  Unlike last year I paid attention to the "12 and under" sign and stayed off of the bouncy pillow!  The kids also fed some goats, bounced on pigs, climbed on a bunch of wooden obstacles, and tried out the rope swing. Slice of Life, Week 1

I just finished week 1 of my new photography class "Slice of Life."  It's taught by Darrah Parker , a photographer I was introduced to in Momtographie.  This course focuses on taking photos of your life, without worrying about perfection!  It's about finding the beauty and details in the ordinary everyday things.  I've been struggling with finding things to photograph so this class should be a great fit for me! This week's theme was what matters to you with a focus on our house.  Here are the photos I took (not all of them) and why they matter to me! My morning coffee is the one part of the day where I can have some time to myself.  In a house of extroverts quiet time is a rare commodity.  But I know when I get up (at 6:00, an hour before everyone else) I'll have a few precious moments of quiet.   This doll furniture is in D's room now.  But for many, many years it was in my own (childhood) bedroom....

Happy Easter

I hope you and your family had a wonderful, happy Easter!  Ours sure did!!!!   We started the fun on Saturday evening by decorating Easter eggs.  We managed to spill 0 cups of egg dye and I only cracked 3 eggs while boiling them.  As you can see, egg dying is a serious and thought provoking experience in our house. The Easter Bunny left baskets on the table and hid eggs downstairs for the kids on Easter morning.  The baskets had an art book, a book to read, Mad Libs, Tsum Tsums, one small toy, and some chocolate.  We spent the afternoon with family having another egg hunt and dinner.  It was a great way to spend a warm, Easter Sunday!
