Ahoy Maties

Our week at the beach was filled with pirate fun!

It started when the kids found a buried treasure chest on the beach outside of our condo.  It included a dolphin necklace for D, shark tooth necklace for S, and lots of quarters for them to use at the arcade.

Later in the week we took a pirate ship ride.  D was a bit apprehensive because she didn't know if the pirates on the boat would be the ones whose treasure they had dug up.  We reassured her those pirates had asked us if we'd seen any treasure and promptly left when we told them no!

To start the trip D got to use her acting skills and love of being the center of attention to demonstrate how to put on a life vest.  Her favorite part, and what she still talks about, is how the pirates pretended to throw her overboard.

Then the real pirate adventure started.  We heard the tale of a missing treasure stolen by another pirate.  We were in search of this pirate and might need to engage him with the canons later on the voyage.

Sure enough the pirate showed up and began shooting water onto our ship.  We returned fire.  D actually shot S more than the pirates!

We may have been a ragtag group of pirates but we recovered the treasure chest, filled with "coins" and other toys!
